Lactation visits are provided in-home, in-center, and online. Online sessions are best for generalized lactation basics like prenatal consultations, advice on back to work, etc.

In-person support is ideal for personalized lactation support once your baby is here for hands-on support and assessment of how breast/chestfeeding is going. In-home sessions are ideal as this is your natural setting where you and your baby are most comfortable and we can work in real time to find the best positions for you with the items you already have. In-center visits are also available for those who prefer to come visit us in Menlo Park.

IBCLC vs Feeding Therapist

While there is overlap between what a feeding therapist and lactation consultant (IBCLC) can work on with a parent and infant who are having difficulty with breast/chestfeeding, there are some variations (detailed below).

In general, a lactation consultant is working on issues that may stem from the parent, child, or both to optimize feeding. A feeding therapist works more specifically with feeding issues that stem from the child.

At The Airplane Spoon, we have a team of feeding therapists and a lactation consultant who is also a feeding therapist, so you can be sure you’re getting all your bases covered.
